A delicious and creamy Taiwanese-style Taro Milk Tea made with a green tea base, sweetened condensed milk, and chewy tapioca pearls. Perfect for a refreshing afternoon treat!

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving

Ingredients

Green tea tea bags – 2 bags

Water (for tea) – ¾ cup

Milk (whole or 2%) – ⅓ cup

Sweetened condensed milk – 3 tablespoons

Taro powder – 1 teaspoon

Ice – 1 cup

Water (for boba) – 2 cups

Tapioca balls (boba) – ¼ cup

Instructions

Steep the tea: Boil ¾ cup of water (ideally to 175°F). Steep green tea bags for 4 minutes, then discard bags and let the tea cool.

Cook the boba: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan. Add tapioca balls and cook on medium-high heat for 8-10 minutes until soft.

Prepare the mixture: Combine the cooled tea, milk, condensed milk, taro powder, and ½ cup of ice in a cocktail shaker.

Shake: Shake vigorously about 10 times to combine and froth the ingredients.

Assemble: Place the warm, drained tapioca balls into a glass. Pour the tea mixture over the boba and add the remaining ice.

Serve: Enjoy immediately with a wide boba straw.

Notes

• Serve immediately while boba is warm for the best texture; they harden after 4 hours.

• For a lighter tea flavor, use only 1 tea bag instead of 2.

• Use a wide-diameter straw to ensure you get the tapioca pearls with every sip.

• If your boba brand has different cooking instructions, follow those for best results.
