Cinnamon Roll Cookies are soft, buttery sugar cookies with a spiced swirl and tangy cream cheese frosting. They pack all the cozy flavor of cinnamon rolls into an easy, handheld cookie—perfect for holiday trays, bake sales, or weekend treats.

  • Total Time: 40 minutes
  • Yield: 18 cookies

Ingredients

Scale

**For Dough:**

1 ⅓ cups flour

1 ¼ teaspoons baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon

½ cup butter, unsalted, room temperature

½ cup white granulated sugar

1 large egg

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

**For Rolling:**

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons sugar

**For Frosting:**

3 oz cream cheese, room temperature

5 tablespoons butter, unsalted, room temperature

1 cup powdered sugar

½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350ºF and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

2. In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

3. In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add the egg and vanilla; beat until smooth and combined.

5. Stir in the dry ingredients until a soft dough forms.

6. In a shallow bowl, mix cinnamon and sugar for rolling.

7. Scoop dough into 1-tablespoon balls and roll each in cinnamon sugar.

8. Place on baking sheets 2 inches apart and flatten to about ⅓ inch thick.

9. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until set. Let cool on a wire rack.

10. While cookies cool, beat cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.

11. Pipe or spread frosting on cooled cookies in swirls. Optional: sprinkle extra cinnamon on top.

Notes

Use parchment and a second cookie sheet to flatten all cookies evenly before baking.

Make sure your butter and cream cheese are room temperature for smooth mixing.

These cookies store well in the fridge for 3–4 days.
