  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package Marshmallow Peeps (chicks, bunnies, or other shapes)
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate (chips, wafers, or chopped bar)
  • 1/2 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate (chips, wafers, or chopped bar)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coconut Oil (optional, for thinning)
  • 2 tablespoons Sprinkles (various colors and shapes)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Coarse Sea Salt (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Finely Crushed Nuts (pistachios, almonds, optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Edible Glitter (optional)
  • 1/4 cup White Chocolate (for drizzling, optional)
  • 1 drop Food Coloring (oil-based, for white chocolate, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Crushed Freeze-Dried Raspberries (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Mini Chocolate Chips (optional)
  • 1 cup Dark Chocolate Wafers
  • 1/2 cup Premium Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coconut Oil (unrefined)
  • 1/8 teaspoon Pinch of Sea Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cocoa Powder (unsweetened, for dusting, optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (pure)

Instructions

  • Prepare your workspace: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Unwrap all your Peeps and have them ready.
  • Melt the chocolate: In a heatproof bowl, combine your dark chocolate wafers and semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped chocolate bars). Microwave on 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval, until the chocolate is about 75% melted. Remove from the microwave and continue stirring until completely smooth and glossy. Alternatively, you can temper the chocolate using a double boiler method for a glossy finish and satisfying snap.
  • Enhance the coating: Stir in a tiny teaspoon of unrefined coconut oil (if using) to add sheen and achieve a smooth, dippable consistency. Add a tiny pinch of sea salt to enhance depth and a few drops of pure vanilla extract for flavor. The coating should be warm, smooth, and fluid enough to coat a spoon evenly.
  • Dip the Peeps: Hold each Peep by its base or use a skewer, submerging about two-thirds of the Peep into the melted chocolate. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off for a few seconds before carefully placing it on your prepared baking sheet.
  • Decorate: While the chocolate is still wet, quickly add your desired toppings: sprinkles, sea salt, crushed nuts, edible glitter, or crushed freeze-dried raspberries. If drizzling white chocolate, melt it separately (and tint with oil-based food coloring if desired) and drizzle over the dipped Peeps.
  • Chill: Once all your Peeps are dipped and decorated, transfer the baking sheet to the refrigerator for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set and firm to the touch.
  • Store: Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week if your environment is warm or humid.

Notes

These utterly delightful Chocolate Dipped Peeps are a celebration of textures and flavors, combining the iconic soft, sweet chewiness of marshmallow with the satisfying snap and slight bitterness of good quality chocolate. An irresistible indulgence that’s surprisingly easy to make and incredibly fun to share.
